Waters of Change

"To me, a pretty girl is just that. A pretty girl. A body or a face. An empty shell. It's all superficial. I want what's inside the package, not just the wrapping paper around the box."

When Emma tells Gwendolyn she met Mr. Right, Gwendolyn can't help but feel excited. After all, he gave her a pearl necklace and professed his undying love.

But, wait . . . love?

Who says that on the first date? Gwendolyn thinks he's moving fast and warns her to guard her heart. The next day, Emma is reported missing.

Suddenly, Gwendolyn's ordinary life spirals out of control. Plans for graduation are replaced with police town hall meetings. Even her faithful fiancé, Ryan, seems to be having second thoughts. After a tense drive up the coast, Gwendolyn is explicitly called to the ocean. It's where she thinks her best friend disappeared. It's where she meets Marcus.

Marcus thought he had life all figured out. The demons that torture his soul are safely locked away. But when he meets Gwendolyn standing on the shore, all common sense flies out the window. Honest, courageous, upright—her loyalty to her fiancé is something he's never seen. He will guard his heart as he takes her under his wing, an oath he's sworn to uphold.

The problem is, the closer Gwendolyn gets to the truth of her friend's disappearance, the closer she gets to death—and not just for herself, but for everyone she holds dear.

Waters of Change is the first novel in The Unspoken Heart Series—a supernatural suspense that shatters genre norms. Based on the principle of "monsters with meaning," this dark tale tells a compelling story without the use of graphic violence, sexual content, or foul language.

... This book has a new and darker twist on mermaids, complex characters and themes, rich details, and one heck of a well-earned cliffhanger. There is no doubt that I have fallen for Waters of Change, and I am giving it a full FIVE STARS!

... It’s a remarkable allegory with characters that are easy to love and relate to! The author describes everything so vividly that you can actually see it in your mind, yet, it still leaves room for the imagination.

The desire of the heart are hard to understand, but this book portrays them as something not to be afraid of, but rather to listen to and discern what needs to be changed in your life. Reading this book made me consider the course of my own heart. It’s a great book with everything from romance to reality! Definitely worth reading!

Without giving away the ending, I have to say it was unique and unexpected. Hard sometimes to sort out the good guys and evil doers. What twists will be revealed in book 2? I can't wait to find out!
